🚨BREAKING: With NFL roster cuts looming, the New England Patriots are being heavily linked to Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson as a potential cap casualty. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay labels the veteran pass-catcher as “likely” expendable for a Rams team needing financial flexibility after landing Myles Garrett. Despite Hunter Henry and rookie Eli Raridon on the roster, Parkinson would provide crucial, proven depth for New England—especially following a season-ending injury to free-agent signing Julian Hill.👇

When teams start to trim their rosters, some new names will hit the open market. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay named Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson as a “likely” cap casualty. Kay named the Patriots as a potential landing spot for the veteran pass catcher.

Parkinson had a career year last season, posting 43 receptions for 408 yards and eight touchdowns. He is entering the final year of a three-year extension and is likely headed to free agency after the season.

“If the Rams don’t believe Parkinson will replicate that production, moving on would create additional financial flexibility while opening opportunities for younger, cheaper options,” wrote Kay on Wednesday. “That’s especially relevant for a team fully committed to competing for a Super Bowl after its blockbuster acquisition of Myles Garrett. While (Sean) McVay could elect to carry an extra tight end, Parkinson’s contract structure and the team’s depth at the position make him one of the more notable veterans who could become expendable before Week 1.”

The Patriots have Hunter Henry as their primary tight end, and also drafted Eli Raridon in the third round of the NFL Draft. The Patriots do not need Parkinson, but he could be a great asset to help Raridon learn while also giving the Patriots a proven No. 2 tight end. The team could also use all three players in their offense. Additionally, the Patriots signed Julian Hill in free agency, but he will miss the entire season with an injury. They may be in the market for another tight end anyway.

“Should he reach free agency, the New England Patriots would make sense as a potential landing spot,” wrote Kay. “Despite improvements at wide receiver, New England still has questions at tight end behind veteran Hunter Henry and rookie Eli Raridon. Parkinson would provide an experienced option for a position group that lacks proven depth.”
