Baltimore, Maryland – John Harbaugh, former Baltimore Ravens head coach, who is currently leading the New York Giants, is reportedly aggressively pushing his new team to execute a trade to acquire Rashod Bateman — one of the players he values most highly in Baltimore.
Harbaugh, who knows the Ravens organization inside out after 18 years as head coach (2008–2026), believes Bateman is the ideal piece to strengthen the Giants’ passing game and fits perfectly into New York’s offensive system.
Rashod Bateman, the Ravens’ first-round selection (pick 27) in the 2021 NFL Draft, has shown tremendous potential even though he has not yet fully exploded statistically.
After five seasons, he has recorded 1,650 receiving yards, 120 receptions, and 8 touchdowns. Bateman is famous for his “route-running precision,” deep threat speed, and ability to work in the slot.
The Ravens finalized Bateman’s two-year contract extension at the end of April 2024, guaranteeing him approximately $4.8 million for the upcoming seasons.
However, with the WR room quite crowded (following the draft and development of young talent) and salary cap pressure, Baltimore may consider trading the 26-year-old if they receive a reasonable offer.
For the Giants, acquiring Bateman would allow John Harbaugh to have a young, talented WR to pair with Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson, adding speed and depth to the offensive front.
Harbaugh believes Bateman’s athletic traits and potential will make him a long-term cornerstone in New York.
Potential trade package: The Giants could send the Ravens a third-round pick (around pick 70–80) along with a fifth-round pick or another depth player. This is considered a fair price for a WR with high upside.
Although trading Bateman is not the Ravens’ top priority (especially after finalizing the contract extension), the salary relief and additional draft capital could make it difficult to refuse, especially as the team focuses on developing young talent.
As the 2026 offseason heats up, all eyes are on the potential negotiations between the Ravens and Giants. Acquiring Rashod Bateman would be a strong statement by John Harbaugh in his first year in New York, immediately upgrading the Giants’ offense and increasing their competitiveness in the NFC East.
This deal could significantly change the offensive units of both teams for years to come and promises to be one of the most attractive trades of the 2026 NFL offseason.
